VX1000 TAPE WON'T EJECT

Jejenhausen - Thanks for linking that thread, checked it out and i reckon the tape deck motor probably died as the tape reels don't even try to move. When I turn the camera on I hear beeping because of the eject symbol and a slight bit of movement but no movement from the reels when I press eject.

FOG - Thanks for giving me another idea. I took it apart and realigned it but was unsure what the 2 small bits where the tape is placed were so I just realigned it to what i thought looked right. I took a few photos of what I thought they may be. I don't think the alignment is the issue though as the tape reels don't even try to move when i press eject.

Hey Lance,

That symbol with the line through it is just telling you that your lithium battery (inside the batt compartment door) is dead or missing. Not causing the problem. Neither is the ribbon to the VTR switch pad. That just enables or disables playback functions. You have a problem in the power circuit is sounds like. No power to the load motor so it can’t open up. Common problem usually caused by one or more screws that have backed out and fallen to the power circuit at the bottom of the cam and blown things up (electronically). Not something you can repair at home I’m afraid. Glad to have a look if you want to send it though.

Looks like I might have to send it in to get a new tape deck motor which I heard is about $200. Anyone else had to get a new tape deck motor? Would sending it to Kerry be the cheapest or sould I try someone local?

Thanks guys!

what fog posted is correct. you just gotta take off the left side (you'll have to take the handle of also to do this) then unclip the ribbon thats still attached to the main part of the camera. give it all a good blow of air and put the side back on. give it a bit of a wiggle before screwing it back on. youll notice if you hold the side it will get to a position where the tape door will want to be able to close again. close it, then screw it all back together :-)
