i dunno johno. i wouldn't call him a shredder (noun). yes, Zakk hits some nice fast licks and at these times many a drunken deathmoth has yelped "SHREDDDIIINNN'" (adjective).

refering to zakk as a shredder is like refering to slash as a shredder. now slash himself in his book claims that when he tried to jam with Zakk it was like jamming with himself all over again. they both share one thing in common, they play straight out, old time rock n roll style leads with that extra fire that sets them aside from your Joe Perry's etc. the blues touch you described is just rock n roll, rock n roll originating from the blues and all

but its their lack of sweeped appegios and ridiculously unnecessary legato and tapping patterns which prevent them entering "shredder" status.

I got two completed with the double kick now so I might sus out putting them up on the weekend or something so you can admire my verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/solo/verse/chorus structures hahaha
