yep^^ even with a crappy mix and no tweaking up, if you lay down a decent sound it will still sound better than that - just clearer and more dynamic.
If you think about it, when you're trying to get a strong tone out of your guitar...well the stuff is called distortion. It distorts. It's what it does, and why it's called that. Now logically...I mean...geez it's a bit insulting to all of us to have to dumb it down this much...
And Johno don't get your back all up about it. So what, some bands demo isn't given the highest regard by some jerks on the internet - it's not a personal attack at you.

actually, the only time i like cranked distortion is in the case of the entombed/dismember sound. double checked with the guys from dismember when they toured recently and the 'secret' is a boss heavy metal pedal with all knobs cranked into a JCM900 or 800 with everything cranked again..... sounds like shit but in a good way! haha!

Just bought a peavey classic 50 4x10 for 700 bucks including a roadcase. Fuckin beached as. Was fairly set on a Fender Twin or Reverb Pro but for 700 bucks I had to take it.
