you can buy any pots, doesnt matter. There are two main types, linear and logarithmic pots. Im not sure whats mostly used in guitars and whats more common, you might have to look it up.

Ebay. People sell wiring kits on there. Get CTS pots. Theyre a really good brand and and top pots! Yeh, they vary massively as far as their values are concerned. But theyre clearly marked on the back of the pots. (250K, 500K, 1000K etc.)

Shutdown, quick question about your eggle. Are the humbuckers tappable? If so, you may need push/pull pots to cope with that.
GGinger Beer18 May 2010
hahahha jeez i look like an idiot. i totally forgot about the resistance values. They are DEFINATELY important

"Are the humbuckers tappable?"

haha, my lack of knowledge of that qn alone has turned me off trying to do this shit myself.. pussy lord returns!

in other news, bought a morley bad horsie 2 wah on ebay yesterday.. should arrive tomorrow. Loving the bypass when foot off / spring load aspect.. From what i've seen on youtube it sounds pretty decent too..

quality of your soldering also affects the sound quality. Easy thing to do if you know what your doing, not terribly hard to learn either.

Might be worth finding a guitar tech who doesnt mind showing how to... rather than risk stuffing up a decent instrument

i have been offered a 1980's gibson v which is in rough condition and has been scalloped form the 12th fret onwards. the guy is asking $500, What do you guys think, good deal?
NNenaeststas2 June 2010
link?
Sstankie!2 June 2010
its off a distant friend, and i dont have pics atm, ill upload them later. Whats your oppinion given the description? does that scalloping take away its originality?
PPIG..2 June 2010
80's gibsons were'nt exactly known for their high levels of quality. Not to say they were rubbish, just not crafted to the same levels as earlier guitars.

Dont worry about whether the scalloping takes away from the originality, worry about whether you'll be OK playing a scalloped guitar.

If the answers yes, then go nuts. Sounds like a pretty damn good deal.

If anyone know anyone selling an 80's charvel or kramer, please let me know.

hey PIG i think i remember you saying something about guitar forums a few pages back but i cant be bothered looking.

anyway what are a couple of good ones that are easy like this one and good too
PPIG..17 June 2010
Don't know of any good Guitar Forums sorry.

All the guitar forums I've seen are just full of pompous fuckwits with elitist mentalities.

Good blogs however:

guitarnoize.com
iheartguitarblog.com
300guitars.com
rockhousemethod.blogspot.com
musicradar.com
guitaredge.com
premierguitar.com

I dig all of these sites.

im prolly gonna get 800 from my tax return, thinking of getting a strat or tele? i like them both and cant really decide on which oe to get?
DDeathMoth21 July 2010
just try em out and see which one feels better for ya.
i have a tele. i find them more stylish. mine's a 52 reissue US made, has a really sweet one piece maple neck and i put some Joe Barden T-Style pickups in there.
Sstankie!21 July 2010
thanks, is there much difference in the neck? same size?
FFetus21 July 2010
hey invisi a good guitar forum I used to be on all the time was the seymour duncan one. Hope its still as awesome as it used to be. It's run by the staff of the actual company, they even made a custom pickup to all the forum heads agreed specs called the bro-bucker. Now that's a pretty sweet company if you ask me.
GGinger Beer21 July 2010
shit. sorry on the size.
Sstankie!22 July 2010
thanks pig, too bad im in melb but e bay should have some good deals. I think i also like the maple neck better on the strat because a mate has one and it feels real good
PPIG..22 July 2010
Yeh fair enough.

I've heard World Of Music are pretty good down that way.

Worth a check out.

Yeh I love maple necks. My blazer has an all maple neck and it sounds great!
GGinger Beer22 July 2010
Hahahaha pig, that link you posted to shire music, i work there. Legit strats but they sell like hotcakes. I'd be placing a web order and we can get them fresh from fender.
PPIG..22 July 2010
