I just have to say this:

The dimensions of the transitions should be the same as the new Croydon park. Those trannies are perfect. Not too tight.

I am perfectly happy with lots of bowls. I love bowls.

PLEASE put lights there, so it's skateable at night like Waterloo.

On the weekend it will be scooter hell.

And why does a skatepark take six months to build? Isn't it just concrete and a bit of landscaping?

We've all seen housing developments go up in six months, with electricity, flooring, painting, the whole deal....

Yeah cause making a flat slab and building and skinning a frame ontop of it is just as hard as making a perfectly smooth transition, not to mention the division of labour on an estate and the sheer work force.

TL;DR you're an idiot.

Wow. Granite pool coping eh. Nice. Looking forward to seeing this puppy.

What's St Kilda's protocol on graffiti removal? High Pressure wash the hell out of it? Try as we might they still do at Belco and they don't realise the years they're taking off. Thank goodness it doesn't get bombed too much. Weston Creek has been sandblasted that much it's a joke. You need 60mm wheels just to get anywhere. Get that low pressure patience happening... Preserve that sheen when it's done.

This looks so epic, gunna have to hone in on the tranny skills in the coming months. Any street dawg complaining about this should just shut up, you live in Melbourne, there are fucking awesome spots and parks everywhere.

Had a wee peak last night, looking amazing. It's hard to comprehend how big she is. Convic have once again raised the bar that much closer to the standard of the some what common 'massive American parks'.

Quick question, does this granite coping differ from that of the bar beach/knewcastle bowl which had to be especially removed after 3 months after it deteriorated to an in skateable level? I assume so, just have to ask.

hi, I have only looked at it from outside the fence, however an allowance of 750 m2 was negotiated with the DSE - they wanted to reduce it to 500 m2. To put this into perspective my rough estimate using google maps puts Riverslide at about 900 m2. So St Kilda is a decent size, but not huge.

possibly the reason why it looks so big is because it is all tranny, or maybe there is some confusion as to which parts of the reserve area being currently dug up is included in the skatepark area - only 4% or so of the total marina reserve area is for the skatepark.

Fulton Hogan are constructing the whole reserve area. The path leading up to the park did look skateable and very smooth to me. Convic did the design and they have had plenty of practise with this sort of thing, so although its not going to be the biggest park in the region and obviously not a street park, possibly it will be the best tranny park in the region. Its design is intended to incorporate all levels of tranny challenge from beginner to expert.

there is more than one reason for its tranny emphasis. Part of it is that a survey of 5 schools in the St Kilda area showed that a deep bowl followed by shallow bowl were the highest on the requested feature list. It follows that tranny complements learning bowl skills and it is thought that to incorporate all this plus street requires more like 1500 m2 which is not available.

rad

But there's a difference between Emphasis and overkill. There would've still been enough space to make it a bit better for street. The design is very questionable.
And Henerz, Please......
Nowhere is perfect and have you ever been to a park that's crowded and wished there were more good parks or hassle free spots?????
Besides, people who work are busy dude and often don't have time to trip around the city all day or get kicked out of spots- The advantages of having new street and tranny in one convenient location should be obvious.
