Are you using film or digital delazz? I think that if you set up a shot of something like this last one, but focus on the 3 flowers in the mid-ground then as you raise the aparture you should notice that the fore and background elements will come into focus as well.

Just try 2 shots. Both with mid-ground focus. 1 with aparture closed. 1 with aparture open.

yeah iv done that on other things, thats the look i wanted to get, i wanted the other stuff out of focus. so yeah, now i know with the apertere fully closed, basically everything is in focus no matter when u manually focus on. i might try that same photo as last one tomorrow but only focus on the middle 3 flowers. Iv only seemed to be able to fully focus on only the foreground or background, not hte mid yet.

RE: Miscellaneous Pictures You should try some depth of field shots with something very close in the foreground just inside the frame.

This shot was taken by accident and is not a very good example, but it does show midground focus. I was actually trying to get the two frisbee footballers in focus.

RE: Miscellaneous Pictures Another shot of fireworks during Chinese New Year in Shanghai. The framing isn't great and it wasn't until I saw the pic on my monitor that I could see the telegraph pole in shot. Bummer! But it does show how good fireworks look when shot with a timed exposure.

RE: Miscellaneous Pictures This is one of my favourite photos. I was walking around with my girlfriend not far from where we live and came across a ghetto that was in the midst of being demolished. This guy gestured to the red characters on the wall and just kept eating nuts while I snapped off some shots.

I later found out that the character says "Demolish". It's a real shame to see these people lose their homes to progress. They are very ghetto, but these places show a lot of 1930s chinese architecture and charm. Everything gets replaced by 20 story apartment blocks.

my cam's apertere goes from 2.8 to 8. I got no idea if thats decent or if its just a basic amount, i havent really tried one but i havent been able to get a good mid-focused pic yet.

It's the standard delazz.

Maybe you can try just sitting your camera on a desk with an object about 10cm from the lens and another 2, each 15-30cm from the other.

My IXUS v3 doesn't have aparture control, so I have to manually focus on an object, then chnage framing. I have a G1 here as well. So when playing with aparture I snap off about 20 or more shots with different settings and study the minor differences on the monitor.

I use an alternative to explorer that shows all the exif info when you hover the pointer over a file. Very handy.
