IT'S THE END OF AN ERA IN ADELAIDE SKATEBOARDING...

Skate Fx is officially over!

The Salisbury council rejected their proposal (which they made them wait a month to find out about) to put in place the required smoke detectors etc.
Everything was ready to go and they would have opened after this weekend, but alas the council didn't want to work with them.

Whatever you thought of the place it's a major loss to Adelaide skateboarding.

It's a major skateboarding icon in my eyes. An indoor park free to skate every Wed for longer than I can remember. No where else have i heard of that.

Smooth ground, mad benches, always a sick mini, whether it was the 6ft or the 4ft, plus endless amounts of other obstacles that were always able to be arranged however.

I can't believe this has happened to Beau and Char. I guess it was bound to happen when people are that generous and giving, but it's really saddening.
People just seem to take advantage of people that giving, even those that have more than they had. I saw it a lot unfortunately. I'm sure they knew too, but were happy to give anything they had to their friends and pretty much anyone that came through there.

To be completely honest I didn't see people doing much at all to support them.

The few I do know of tried to do as much as they could and I'm sure that helped get them to the first proposal stage.

When the council takes over a month to tell you the proposal not good enough, you can't pay to fix up a warehouse, pay a warehouse rent plus put in a lot of work and all the rest all while getting no support from the council or your landlord.

They do plan to try to get something else happen, but that is going to be a monster effort and no doubt will take some time.

man that sucks, did Plywood Playground get shut down the same way?

Hope you guy's are just mentioning other closed down SA indoor parks, because neither of those or any others come close to what Skate Fx was.

I think Plywood P... closed down because they had crazy insurance and shit like that. You had to wear full pads and as far as I knew it was only bladers that kept them in business as long as they did last.
I know I went there once, got told I had to wear pads, saw the prices didn't skate and never even thought about going back.
