Those parks are good, but they're designed by other people, sometimes in conjunction with Convic. The majority of Adelaide's parks are designed by Convic in collaboration with the council.

Don't get me wrong, they can build some good stuff, and yes evans I would love to see a Geelong style park in Adelaide (although there are a few things amiss there too), it's just their designs which seem to be the problem, especially in Adelaide.

I think that at the moment the people with the most pull, or the people with the most initiative are the guys who like to skate bowls. I don't mean to typecast here, but it is the older bowl skaters who are going to push harder for what they want than the lazy 20-something street skater.

Unfortunately, people such as me, you, joe bloggs and the majority of young skaters who frequent this thread don't kick up enough fuss when a park is being designed. Hence, we end up with parks like Wet Bitch.

i havent heard anything about a park being designed since the sketches of the plaza for west beach ages ago. if we dont hear anything we cant have an opinion on it. for instance the port pirie park and the other one out that way with the red waves. they just popped up outta nowhere. one second there was nothing, then i log on and there plans posted on here and construction is beginning in 20 minutes.

a plaza would without doubt make west beach the most well rounded park in adelaide, fair valid point walker. that said a combi, not like flaggies, like bondi but bigger, would make it the best tranny based park in australia. hands down.

what's going to get used more though? plaza no question.

as far as the ideas to get more smaller, simpler parks like prospect built I don’t agree. Yeah it gets used a bit but bigger, better designed parks are the go. Adelaide has too many examples of parks that have potential but shit design/build has seen them shortfalls.

I know park design has progressed a lot recently, but Blackwood, Pooraka, Elizabeth, Regency and Paradise are all examples of expensive let downs. There heaps more examples but regardless the money spent on those could have meant an insane plaza AND combi.

The point is if street skaters want to harp that they want street/plaza based parks, then get them done properly and make something dope that’s gonna get skated heaps.

As far as flaggies, aside from city it’s by a mile the most skated park in Adelaide right now. I’ve skated it three nights this week and there have been at least ten skaters at a time there each night. As far as design/what guys want in a park it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and yeah it’s not perfect, but it does get used heaps.

And yeah older gen skaters that mainly ride tranny have had more influence over park design in recent years, but I think that skaters of this generation as a whole have to start making more noise about getting parks built and step up to what the older dudes did. The council aren't going to come to our door and ask.

Surprised there hasn’t been any useless hate yet, fuck yeah.

3 nights out of the week there is maybe 10 skaters at flaggies,7 days a week there is 10-15 skaters at churchill and its less then half the size and not filled with annoying mums & dads/scooter riders/bike riders/ useless kids hanging around because there is nothing better to do, and as for another bowl of any sort thats fucking joke we have plenty of bowls and shitty built parks with far to much tranny far more people both young and old want something more "street" to skate

Personally don't think an extension will ever happen, hope otherwise, but cant see the council approving removal of the tennis court knowing there's people there on the regular.

Should fucking extend it out side ways where all that grass is ...now there's an idea.

The tennis court will still be there, just moved. Little bit of faith Evan's.

if goodwood had churchill ground it would be a much better park. but a plaza is most definatly in need. more so then a bowl. adelaide has enough bowls right now. im sure you bowl shredders can wait a little longer whilst we still wait for our plaza.

but all we ever do is talk about it over a skateboard forum. except for those who try their hardest. the more the better.

west lakes is a prime area for a park proposal. councils got cash (spent over a mill this year on the redevelopment of the park/playground and rowing lanes on the lake) and there are a fair few area's they could use.

the park at the southern end of the lake, the massive dirt bmx track and the park next to the primary school have all got heaps of room.

wouldn't happen overnight but the area should have a park and it would be worth a crack.

Would anyone travel to westlakes to skate? On a daily basis, is there quick and simple public transport to west lakes?,what would the scooter factor be like?, what would the bmx factor be like, would you be able to skate there at night and not have to knuckle on with your token western suburb toys

public transports sweet. the bus depot is at the shopping centre and theres heaps of busses that go up and down millitary road, which most land where you could build a park is on.

theres more metro fighter cunts around city park than henley, westbeach or fulham so westlakes wouldnt be any different.

reckon we should avoid making parks because of scooters?

i find parks in the outer suburbs to just be a place for the teen age population to just hang out at night because there is nothing else to do and they wanna start trouble because well there is nothing else to do,and im not saying build a new city park but i am saying it should be close to city because city is a central meeting place for all skateboarders, and if pros(ever) come to adelaide they stay in the city, and im not saying we dont build parks because of scooters im saying we build parks that are not scooter friendly

dudes like that hang out at flaggies is probably like that more than any other park, but to be honest ive noticed a lot of dudes actually start skating because there sick of watching everyone else. it is an issue but actually helps with park proposals, i.e tell the council there isn't fuck all for kids to do as part of the argument to get a skatepark.

maybe some of the land around greenhill road or something? not as good public transport wise but theres heaps of parklands there. boong factor might be an problem though.

plazas are definitely not scooter friendly which is dope.

actually probably the major deterant for getting a park build in an outer suburb area is that residents generally will oppose the idea because they believe that it will end up being a central spot for random people to hang out for no reason. and skating grove alot i can agree with this 100%. after school, weekends, nighttimes there are regularly more people who dont skate at skateparks being morons. and these days in outer suburbs parks the percentage of skateboarders is pretty low compared to kids with there parents, random people and general toys who need there domed cracked.

grove was an ok park, now its pathetic and i hate the place.

MV2 once again doing there part for the adelaide skate scene advertising the latest scooter product for kids instead of skateboarding or even bmx. u can thank them next time u get snaked at any park in adelaide by sum 14 yr old kid with a monster flat billed cap and high top globes.

if mv2 don't sell them then kids will get them somewhere else. might as well go to a shop that puts back into skating.
