RE: Brunswick Skatepark 2013 Another ledge setup for consideration as seen in the photo.
These seem to be big in the LA skateparks, but I've never seen a legit one here.
Lower ledge looks to be about 40cm high, and then the out ledge on top looks to be a bit bigger. you can hit it from each direction, multiple options for combos, manual tricks etc etc.

Rad ideas! Making berm/corners at croydon a bit steeper. Yes!
but about the idea of having quarters at the end of paths for example if there was a little quarter at the end of clifton hill.......sounds good in theory but unfortunatley it looks too much like the "beginners" area ie could quickly become scooter/little kid on plastic bike hell, unless you made the transition really tight I suppose. That's the rad thing about Clifton Hill, no scooters or little kids.
The ledge heights at city park are good (lower L block and higher end of the ledge that slopes up in the middle), the higher one at clifton you're talking about Josh is nice too. The lower one is in my opinion too low to be much of a ledge - more of a manual pad.
Separating ledges, rails etc from transition also helps avoid having a collision course. If you've been there think Bar Beach park street area in Newcastle.....awful!

RE: Brunswick Skatepark 2013 Noted. As said earlier the path will be a circuit. I have some ideas to get some high speed elements in there.

Mocco's there is a variation of that obstacle circled in the plans at belco. Could be good to get dimensions from. With the wheel chair ramp thing on the previous page instead of stairs a steep wallie bank could be used to replace them. It would then open up wallie manual up down combos and wallie to ledge combo's.

I will go and take some pics of the site tomorrow and get some google arial views. We can then try and get some ideas of the shape and start sketching.

granite ledges may seem good in theory, but after 6 months of skating, BMXing, scooting and whatnot they just fall apart.
Berwick skatepark is a prime example, had granite ledges, fell apart, needed replacing twice in 8 months, and now they've put coping on them, seems like a good idea, but when the coping isn't flush with the ledge it becomes awful!

and as far as graffiti prevention goes, I would rather a skatepark be covered in cocks, phone numbers and other shit like that, rather than that slippery bullshit anti spraypaint shit!

have a good day

This x1000^^^. Also, please no fucking coloured crete. All it does it eat up the budget pointlessly and lead to smaller, shittier parks that look pretty from a distance.

Sweet so to summarise.....

No granite/marble ledges
Slipperyness a major concern

Josh,
the one at Belco is bigger than what I remember from being there earlier in the year. The one in my photo looks to be easily grindable on the top ledge from the ground, but the one at Belcon is alot higher from memory.
Anyone in LA at the moment want to measure up the ledge above/!

Cool obstacle, I like the concept. A couple of the cantilevered kicker to kicker elements could work well by themselves for path direction changes.

Things are progressing well. Scoped the sight, great spot.

Council are not wanting to make the location public just yet.

i think if it's going to be a circuit of sorts, it needs to be split up. you dont want it becoming a race track for scooters.
i couldnt see a circuit working without splitting it up, otherwise you'll have people waiting to hit one obstacle where another person is starting a line, etc.
does it have to be a circuit?

So keen for shallow end steps.

I reckon circuit works, all parks are hard to hot when busy. It will be sectioned somewhat ideally.

Checked out the site, has a graffiti wall, dunnies and b ball hoop already. Half the struggle is to get these things removed from the skate budget!

Long skinny site kinda. I'm going to take some google earth views and try and sketch some stuff

please have a manny pad not high to get onto but drop on the end like the one at frankston. a decent 6 stair with a low rail and then just go loco on abstract obstacles but not ones that look so fun and you get there and they aren't skateble. I'm so down for a skatepark in brunswick you'd get the perfect crews there. much respect for getting shit done josh!!

also nothing thats too close to fences like the tiny manny pad at city park that would be so good if it was bigger and wasn't right next to a fence i always smash into

I like to skate bowls I rode nimbin snake run and realy liked it. A snake run that is wider/larger curves might be a little easyer to skate. The bowl at the end of the snake run was also great but its 9" depth and lack of vert realy macks it hard to get air how I would like to. Please build me a bowl 12" deep with 2" vert and I want pool copping. And as far as the surface goes make it the most smooth hard slick surface as possible I want to almost as fast as shauny.

RE: Brunswick Skatepark 2013 Another peir 7 replica eh? Not sure how many we need but noted. 6 stair and rail I am not so convinced. For reasons stated earlier in this thread stairs won't be ideal. ^ stair is too short rail wise in my humble opinion and there is one at Clifton Hill not too far away.

Anyway that is only my opinion. Thanks for the input. Noted that the more unique elements need to be properly skateable and not too kooky.

I hear ya about 12 ft with at least 2ft of vert. We have so much in Melbs that is 5-7ft, need to have proper vert in the biggest part of the clover. Originally I put 6, 8 and 12 as suggested dimensions however a few heads are saying 5ft for the shallow if it is going to be pool like with stairs. Stolen insta pic to get the idea of the kind of shallow.

I love pool coping but as stated by others in this thread it will become haggard with BMX pegs ect. Surface is a real issue, with some parks being built way to slippery these days.

when the pool coping in the bowl gets to haggard it should then be repaired or replaced concrete coping please.
