when i was 9 years old i tried to drop in here for the first time in my life, cracked the helmet in half :)
Maybe back in the 80s when there wasn't anything besides carparks to skate if you didn't build your own ramp, this was a revolutionary new design of skateboard facility, both being fairly cheap, easy to maintain and well within safety regulations for the height of playgrounds. That said, I was probably here or other similar parks more often than not in my youth, which would explain why I like to skate small transitions to this day. I wonder if I added up all those hours skating these kind of bowls how many years I actually spent at places like this. Probably more than most kids have been skating in their life so far...
And it does have a lip cause you could get a good grind and even a slide on it on occasion. Probably worn down a lot more now, but wide trucks and small wheels and you can get some noise going.
