Dunno. Nothing planned yet really.
Lights are on at the local tonight, so probably go for a roll and a few beers. Hopefully my new keycard arrived today so I can get my shop on tomorrow. So fucked having no card - I've had to go easy on the spending for about 3 weeks now.
Got this 6/8 riff that I might turn into a song tomorrow. Actually I've kinda got the song already written, but yeah might start laying it down tomozwee.
DDeathMoth17 Oct 2008
i like 6/8 dude, big fan. you can play around with it all wiiiild!

like straight ONE two three TWO two three or like a slayer beat but in groups of 3 instead of 4... kick, snare, kick, snare, kick, snare bars.

or that one that sounds like a shuffle

big fan
DDeathMoth17 Oct 2008
deathy's basic 6/8 rhythms to be played at fast pace
red is kick, green is snare. kinda dumb but hey

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

last night i saw a sweet deal. a sennheiser MD421 microphone, with a hercules boom stand and 20foot cable on ebay, buy it now for $485 or something. pretty sure those mike retail for twice that, the stands are at least 120 and a cable is whatever... i checked my funds came home today with the intention of snapping it up and it appears to be gone!

soooo devo

such a good mike to have in the kit. good on kick, toms, sax, guitar and bass amps even the spoken word. fuckin spewing

How's it going Mr Gay?

Got a new 17inch crash on satdee.
DDeathMoth20 Oct 2008
hung up the ol' 6 string ay??
MMr Fox20 Oct 2008
haha nah got my keycard on friday and don't really need any guitar junk. Just wanted to spend some money haha

Fuck that. Drums suck. I'd never be a drummer in a band. Well I did play drums in one band back in the day, but never again.
DDeathMoth20 Oct 2008
yeh i used to have a kit... used to try and thrash out the seasons in the abyss album with headphones on... fuck i was shit

fox & deathy

im looking at up-grading my amp to a nice cabinet & head combo.

i mainly play alot of rock/metal. so an amp that suits this style of music would be great.

could you guys point me in the right direction of a good one to get? my budget is around $1000.

thanks guys!
MMr Fox20 Oct 2008
I dunno I'm still running the same Fender combo I've had for the last 15 years, so I dunno really what's in the shops these days. But $1000 won't quite be enough for a separate head/box stack will it? At least not new. Maybe one of those Marshall Valvestate jobs or something...
DDeathMoth20 Oct 2008
don't mean to sound chat but 1000 quid ain't gunna cut it for a decent sounding half stack. you're gunna need a valve head and a quad, be looking at a couple of grand.

might i suggest this.
i've seen Marshall JCM2000 Triple Super Lead combos, which is your amp and speakers in one box... 60 watt all valve and 2x12" speakers going for around 2000 quid

if you can't afford an all valve stack you should be looking into all valve combos. a 60watt 2 speaker valve combo will absolutely blow away any solid state half stack regardless of how many watts it reckons it has.

you'll got a hot tone out of a 60watt cos you can crank it a bit harder, but you'll probably never need to play it as loud as it can go anyway.

just my advice. i've played through these things and recommend them just because of how gay i thought it would be compared to how gnar it actually was. combos are the way to go
MMr Fox20 Oct 2008
Mines a 2x12 with 65w a side and I've never really had it up past 3 on the volume (running the clean channel with pedal dist). So 60 watts should be plenty (unless it's actually 30 a side and peak not RMS). But still if you need more volume than that odds are the joint you're playing will have a PA anyway.

You in a band? Gigging? Or what?
DDeathMoth20 Oct 2008
let me guess fox... valvestate 265R?
MmegamanX20 Oct 2008
yeah i have really no idea about how much they go for, 1000 bucks was kinda a guess amount for a budget.

im not in a serious band, just more "jam" sessions with mates and some little party gigs ect. haha

ill just save my cash for a few more weeks and shop around lots before i make a decision.

but thanks guys you deffinatly have sent me on my way!
MMr Fox20 Oct 2008
Nah it's the Fender Ultrachorus, Deathy. Couldn't find a pic. The 265R is a marshall if I believe what the internet says.
I went with the fender because I could crank it and it stayed clean. I tried a few marshall's and they all started to break up a bit once you turned 'em up.

Yeah Megaman if you're just jamming you won't need a valve stack. In fact it would probably be a waste considering you won't have it cranked up to work the valves hard. Otherwise you're probably just gonna piss off your mates because all anyone can hear is your guitar hahaha
DDeathMoth20 Oct 2008
valve combo beyatch. see what ya can find
II'm Your Pusher Man20 Oct 2008
this is like mine - but i have an 80's version - red knobs...solid state
MmegamanX20 Oct 2008
haha cheersa fox! ill keep that one in mind ;)

I need some help/advice on setting up a pedal board from any effect freaks out there, sick of using multi effects so I'm just going to be the essentials and stick with those untill I get bored currently I'm thinking.

Big Muff USA Reissue, Boss OD-1, Crybaby Wah, DigiTech Digital Delay, Boss CE-3 Chorus and I'll probably throw a Boss cromatic tuner in there aswell.

Are there any specific orders I should consider when linking them together ? And how exactly should I power them all ? I'd be guessing all of them would take a 9volt power supply but would that do the job with all of the pedals attatched along via a daisy chain? Cause I know they all take different wattages etc
MMr Fox21 Oct 2008
Wah then dist, then chorus then delay.
Oh yeah tuner first (unless you wanna run it off the line out on your amp or something, which you shouldn't need to because the boss tuner should maintain the signal strength fairly well), but yeah good to have it first then it won't matter if you're chorus or delay is turned on when you go to tune up.
The daisy chain should be fine. Although if you try the distortion on its' own, and there is a noticable difference between that, and having it run with the other effects all at once, might like to try I think it's Korg or some company do a power distribution box thingo apparently maintains constant power supply to several units - I think it has 8 outputs. But the daisy should be ok.

The OD-1 is that to kick in for leads/solos? Or is that for "rhythm" and the muff for "lead"? If the od is for a little boost come solo time, you'll want it in front of the muff to maintain more consistency in the tone. If it's purpose is to have the change of tone (I dunno maybe more top end or something) then you'll want it after the muff.
DDeathMoth21 Oct 2008
yep fox is right. tuner first then your distorting/overdriving pedals in whichever order suits your purpose for each. i'd then go the Wah, chorus then last is the delay.

if you plan on getting a noise supressor put it last. if you have an effects loop you, even a stereo effects loop, you could try putting the chorus and the delay through the loop to make the most of their stereo capabilities

i think someone had a rule or something that said you put signal gaining (preamps, distortion etc) at the start, frequency modifying effects next (wahs, chorus, flange, phase etc) and time modifying effects last...topped off by noise suppression. they also made the point that since a chorus pedal achieves its frequency modification by short delays and doubling then it would go after an effect like a wah which does its frequency modifying via filtering.
DDRIFTz0R21 Oct 2008
Plan was to have an OD-1 used as a dirty rythm or clean boost tone and then switch over to the Muff for a heavy thick lead tone. But that pretty much answers my question, cheers.
DDeathMoth21 Oct 2008
oh and as for powering them. get one of those daisy chain cables to plug into your power adaptor. i have a boss PSA-240 but you could just as easy get its specs and find the same thing at dick smiths for cheap. this daisy chain needs to start in ya tuner and will power your tuner, boss OD, CE-3, the Crybaby and possibly even the Muff

the digitec will probably want a different power supply, i've been told not to do you boss daisy chain with a digital delay
MMr Fox21 Oct 2008
Wah after dist you reckon Deathy?
Guess it comes down to a combination of taste and the type of wah you have, but in my experience the wah can sound a bit quacky (like a duck) if it's put after the distortion.

Also gonna disagree on the noise supressor position - in my opinion it would go before the delay, because if you have a delay setting that has low volume repeats then they may get chopped by the noise suppressor. Also with the noise gate after the delay, if you have long delay settings, the signal noise from the guitar/distortion will still be coming through behind the delay echoes. Whereas if the gate is before the delay, when you stop playing the gate will close and no further noise will be sent to the delay.
