...thats better
Guitar Thread
What's Clapton doing in the guitar thread?
sure clapton has been a homo almost ever since anyone can remember, but that album's worth listening to a few times. or you disagree, foxa? i've had it since i was 15 and still often put it on, but now... now doubt has crept into my heart!
haha just taking the piss Al. I always thought Clapton was kinda average (although I don't mind a bit of Cream sometimes), but since I saw him on that Concert for George video, trying to re-hash the same old blues licks while Ravi Shankars daughter was shredding on the sitar, he just seems so laughable.
I mean, he's only written one song (that I know of) since...well since I can remember - that tears in heaven...of course that's gonna get radio play, being about his son or whatever dieing. And then the acoustic version of Layla.
hahaha I'm a harsh judge sometimes eh ahhaha
But yeah I don't think I've heard much of the Bluesbreakers - I know I have heard at least a song or two, but that's about as detailed as the ol' memory gets haha

diss clapton all you want fox, but when i saw him, you could tell he was a step above the other guitarists ive seen.
but im sure what you think is that his no "god" or whatever, which is true, but to completely discredit him is going a bit far i think.

Yeah I know he's not that bad. But yeah, by means is Clapton god hahaha
say for the sake of argument there's a god and god plays guitar, what kind of music would he play i wonder. surely he wouldn't strum three chords and sing kum ba yah, he's gotta have a million killer licks and unparalleled improvisitional skills right?
or would god play a cooler instrument, say the bassoon?

the ailment is a local band around my area. where are you from Black?
i think clapton is very very good at what he does. he's the kind of guy who those guys in pub covers bands want to be like, he is a god to those kind of dudes. i can kinda respect that
Sounds like Clapton's been practising. Maybe studying that lesson from Zakk Wylde a page or two back. Good to hear him break away from those same three blues licks he's been playng for the last 30 years.
But yeah just going off the crowd response it's pretty obvious SRV was a much better performer and musician than Clapton could ever hope to be.

Black.. yeh try to set aside $50 for the bands, maybe $100 for the headliner. i've played for less

I love claptons early stuff with the yardbirds & cream, especially of their first release. Sure Claptons a bit overated as a guitarist, but he was apart of a very big movement. He has to be up there with the greats, he's extremely versatile and covers a range of heaps of styles but I'd definately wouldn't be putting him in a top 10.
don't mind his album with BB!!
got in this taxi after a pub crawl, carryin on with shit as ya do, so the bitch just cranks the volume on her stezza to drown me out... turns out to be Riding With The King. bitch had to put up with me fucken scatting blues licks after that

hhahahahah^^^
LOL here's a pic for you to take a gander at Al the Spazz -
funny thing about piglatron is that only the drummer is a pig... the rest are some kind of scottish terrier/other mangey mutt
hmmm, that's a pretty ugly pic. i don't really know what to make of it. i'd look at it more closely if i didn't prefer to protect my already bad eyesight from shitty pixels. anyway the singer appears to have a nice jumping-around-on-stage style, but the bass player looks to be getting finger cramps, and to be stoned out of his mind. also, i don't like it that they're wearing t-shirts. if you're going to play a white or cream-coloured guitar you should dress the part - wear a tuxedo or a dove-grey suit and patent-leather pumps, say. finally, what is a 'piglatron'? am i stuck on the outside of an inside joke again?
