true that big strings are the way
ive got 10 - 52s on atm in C tuning and its a bit loose but i will fix that up one day
does anyone here know how much those guitar files are for lowering up the top of the neck
i'd get it done by someone who knows what they're doing
you might find a set of 11's will be more your style when playing in C or lower
yer ill get them next time but yer these strings are fresh so im gonna keep em on.
nd as for filing down the neck im gonna buy the files nd then get my mates dad to do it because he knows what he is doing
i wouldnt wanna risk it just in case i go to low ay
so by filing down the top of the neck are you refering to the nut... or scalloping out the upper fingerboard like Yngwie
im referring to the plastic thing that is to the left of the 1st fret. Needs to be filed down a bit
my fucking christ
that plastic thing is called the "nut"
haha true
im not a guitar specialist, i just play them haha
yes the nut
why are you filing down the nut?
to make it lower up the top
if you're talking about heavier strings the last thing you want to do is file the nut
it sits to high up the top
but i know what you mean deathy
prob only file down a little bit
but i dont want no buzzy buzz

someone correct me if im wrong, but i dont think filing down the nut will solve your fret buzz problem. if that is what you're trying to say. if you are having trouble with fret buzz, you may need to adjust your truss rod or you can fuck around with your action at the bridge. correct me deathmoth if im wrong.
no i mean if i file it to low its gonna buzzy buzzy
if your gunna amp up fatter strings the only filing you'll need to do will be a tiny bit in between where the strings sit in the nut and only on the E, A, D and G strings just so the heavier strings fit in there. even then you probably don't need to bother they'll wear themselves into them at some point. for string height you really should just concentrate on getting the bridge saddles set at the optimum height. its all you should need to do

yer man thats exactly what i was gonna do. The action is all good up around the 12th fret but down where the actual nut is, it sits way to high
so high that it doesnt appear to be normal haha
becareful. it sounds like you dont much about guitars.
you should just take it to a guitar tech and get it set up,
it'll play sooooo much better too.
yer man there is no way im doing it myself ay dont wanna file it down to much or uneven, thats why im getting a mates dads mate to do it since he builds guitars and is really good at it
fretless ay
yep
I just scored a 1982 Ibanez Blazer Custom.
In nice condition Bar the lack of frets (close to 30 years of playing will do that to you)
Needs a full re-fret and considering some higher output single coils being installed (not mini buckers) and get some eighties shred going on.
