Guitar Thread
If they've got 'em in stock on my way home tonight, one of these fuckers will be mine. Otherwise I guess it'll be a hunt down parramatta rd on saturday morning...
haha crybaby from hell.....
LOL yeah it's got griptape on the top instead of just the rubber foot thingo, so it doesn't get slippery when you spill beer on it. And that red button on the side is so you can kick it for a little boost come solo time *b and g string 2 and a half fret harmonic divebomb*
hahah thats sooo good....you are needed in pi and crappy pics. sir....
hey Fox
how much are one of those bad boys going for roughly?
i bought a cheap effects board solely for the wah
lets just say you get what you pay for....

About $400ish
yeh fox a mate has a crybaby from hell i heard it. he had a shit tone but the crybaby worked wonders for his "solos"
Is that an underlying mocking tone I detect there Deathy?
Hey and is your email pskint....? I'll sling you my folks' address for that Mastodon.

not mocking the pedal just mocking this dudes tone. he was the kind of Cunt to use a vast array of rack mounted gear... preamp, effects unit, some unit that didn't do shit, a power conditioner and some kind of bass power amp then run it through a bass cab... probably about 10000 quid of gear and it still sounded shit
yeh thats my email. i think these cd's are just next to me under a pile of pizza hut rubbish

Ah cool. I'd hate to have gone and handed over the cash to find out it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm a little hyped to be honest. Setup is getting there. Still gotta find a good tuning for the second and third toms, but the rest of the kit's sounding pretty good. Ah yes *makes mental note to grab bass strings tonight*
LOL that reminds me of this guy at school who played all the satriani stuff and stuff like that - had a Jem and I dunno a couple of the satriani models and 7 strings and shit, playeed through all this gear. Anyway he had to play without reverb one time at school and he reckoned it made the pitch sound flat hahaha
Saw him a few years later and he was working at a petrol station and guess what? He'd discovered the blues, but was having trouble with it hahaha

shit 3 chords must be pretty tricky
hey strangely enough there is a correlation between reverb and hearing things flat... however its the other way around to what num nuts must've been talking about.
apparently studies or something have shown that if a singer wants reverb in their cans when they've recording a vocal track it tends to make them sing flat. apparently it has something today with pre-delay and how that effects their ability to detect the frequency of their notes. wierd huh

hahaha yeah it's a bit different when it's not just a case of cramming the notes in eh as fast as you can eh.
haha I remember one tim ethis bass player at school was playing a few nice walking lines and stuff, then this guitarist I mentioned before grabs the bass off him and goes "yeah but can you do this?" and just does this real fast legato run all over the place. Geez it sounded shit hahaha but with a name like Tino Caruso...hahahaha

shredders never get anywhere until the recognise that shredding is pretty gay. i was in the little guitar comp one day in my home town, my teacher made me go in it. i did this jeff beck song and this other dude did this Steve Vai song. basically the guy's technique blew me off the stage, he nailed that song like a motherfucker, so fuckin fast and smooth... but my song had all the sick bends and i guess more emotive character and i won. i know he was filthy about that because a mate told me he said etc etc but i was just the kick in the face he needed to turn off the steve vai records and use his technique for greater music.
strangely enough my parents hired his dad the other day as their new technician. no doubt the upset victory of the moth will be brought up in conversation

LOL
What beck?
What beck?
cause we ended as lovers off the blow by blow album. slow Cunt of a song, pretty easy. figured the whole thing out myself
fuck off back to Cessnock joey
falling asleep for me is soooo hard, let alone falling asleep while watching a dvd which is virtualy impossible, apart from this one time when i was watching one of those g3 dvds with satch, vai and that ygnie guy or whatever his name was.....while i appreciate the technique it was soooo boring...they even cant get a neil young song right!
i find it funny to hear foxa hating on shredders though. i thought you two were all its gotta have good technique kinda thing....

I remember Alex Laiho from Children of Bodom took a shot at John Petrucci, claiming the shit he played was just sport. It's true, there's nothing too emotive about it, it's just all technique and execution. Same goes for most shred.
Ah nice Deathy - fair bit of pick up switching on that eh. Such a good album of pretty much just a guitar plugged into an amp eh - no crazy effects and shit - just guitar playing. I read somewhere that that album was the first rock-based guitar intrumental album released...
Fucken cunts I jinxed myself mentioning about the wah being in stock. Dammit I guess I'll have to walk 200 metres to the far away shop on the weekend haha
Justy there's more to technique then just speed.

Dammit I actually eyeballed Blow by Blow on the shelf this morning but didn't bother to grab it. Got that song stuck in my head now.
yeh such a good album. apparently he used only the Pro-Co Rat distortion pedal. and just that and his guitar/amp set up provided all the sounds. just different pick ups and settings on the Rat's filter knob.
i believe to some degree it was the first instrumental jazz-rock fusion reccrd that was actually a commerical success.
i think you better go grab a copy fox its definitely his best

ah justy. well yeh i like things to be "technically correct" to a certain degree... its like this
- i can't stand listening to shitty guitar playing unless the music is really fuckin honest...in a pissed off aggressive way of course.
- i prefer my music to have good musicians playing well thought out shit and playing it well... i like melody and emotion to be pretty much the main thing being showed off
- i don't like hearing some fucker show off how many hours he's spent sitting at a metronome perfecting his harmonic minor run over 4 octaves... thats just rubbish

Yeah I got it man. Like I was saying I looked at it on the shelf this morning thinking of bringing it in for a listen today, but yeah just didn't grab it for some reason. Wired (album) has got some pretty good shit on it too.
