dang don't have that one. not a huge fan of some of his later stuff... those wack drum sounds turn me off

you sound pretty similar to me deathy. i find some techy shit impressive to check out like once, but that's not guitar playing for me. i like a groove and a bit of taste. or some sort of emotion..
i like to hear music that is played skillfully also and well written.

it's kind of a cunt cause i expect a fair bit of myself when i am writing stuff and often throw out riff ideas because they don't sound totally awesome right off the bat, when really i should be keepin em as a base... anyways, ranting a bit here haha

Yeah I know what you mean about his later stuff. I got a couple of albums and on the rare times I put them on usually half or more of the album cops the skip button.

Yeah wired is a fair bit more fusion-y. Good little mix of time signatures too.

but does that mean you guys will call everything which has just chord progressions and then a solo shit?

dont get me wrong i like some tech kinda stuff aswell....but at same time i love simple stuff....

meaning if i hear some song and it has a good melody, the chords go well with the song, good rhythm and just good pop sensibilities etc im not gonna go. oh its just some chords and a catchy tune and say that its shit....

yeh nah i'm not totally like that. i've been listening to the radio a bit lately. theres some fuckin crap out there i tell ya, but theres some good stuff. all that indie rock stuff sounds ridiculous to me, but some of the other stuff i'm hearing on jjj is not so bad. there was one song the other day where the dude clearly couldn't sing properly at all. song shouldn't have left the bedroom let alone end up on the radio.

with this being said i'd probably not waste my money on most of the music that i don't turn down on the radio

Went to some a bunch of random death metal bands last night, Anarchsphere were preety awesome. Shitloads of people turned up for The Ocularis Infernum. They kill that pa though with massive full stack 4x12 + quads.

And by that pa I meant the arthouse pa.

Hey I hear the dudes ditched the wolfmother singer/guitarist. Can't blame 'em. Interested to see if this next thing they do will be any better.


It's not as black and white as that Justy - otherwise I'd hate Tim Buckley's song Dolphins, but it's one of the very very few songs that I've bothered to learn start to finish in the last 5 or so years. Not that it's a hard song...but I like it a fair bit.

I really need to give my guitar some TLC. I haven't serviced it in over a year. Loving it though. I haven't played in ages but have played like 5 hours+ a day for the past week.

i know you might think that's kind of funny Frank but to be frank the notes E# and Cflat actually do exist.

you see son, say i was playing a D# sharp major scale the 2nd note in the scale would be E#. why you ask? because the scale tones need to be named alphabetically as in D, E, F, G etc... therefore the F note that you play in a D# scale is actually refered to as E#.
