G6122 Country Classic II , some of them have the 62ri style tuners whilst this one was released with grovers. The 62ri's have mutes, I'm hoping to end up buying a G6119. Gretsch's are fair scarce in Aus and when you find one they're $$$.

they're easy enough to buy through a store man. not many people sell them once they own them though.

DEZ, that link should hopefully help you with the floyd.

I got my first guitar with a floyd a few months back and found it tough at first, but it really does get quite easy after a little while.

I practised by tuning and setting up the bridge perfectly, then moving the springs in the back and de-tuning it and starting again.

There's also some amazing videos on youtube of people showing how to tune/setup/re-string floyds.

I'm guessing its a floating bridge (ie you can pull up and also dive down?)

Its so bizarre that you have to knock on the door to get into jacksons rare guitars. I always feel like they are sussing me out whenever i walk in.

In other guitar related news, i got my guitar plek'd. Pretty sweet.

Yeah that's true but they're so expensive. For the price you'd pay for a brand new reissue Gretsch you could the original thing shipped from the states after custom & ups shipping fee's are charged. I don't think I'd ever buy a brand new guitar from a guitar store in Aus. I always buy my axes overseas.

my Tele was bought in the states, played about twice, then sold at a bargain price in my local store. fuckin ay word has it that the best guitars in the batch stay in the states

wow, i just checked this thread for the first time in ages, its gotten huge!

i recently upgraded from a monterey strat copy and a tiny randall 5 watt to a gibson les paul custom and an orange rockaverb 50. needless to say, my life has improved greatly.
its amazing how playing such an amazing guitar can motivate you to play more. im so stoked on my tone atm.
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
LP custom and orange can't go wrong mate. you're on your way to being a man
Wword war 2 transexual8 Jan 2010
guitars are for girls, but a footy ya pussy cunt

ahaha deathy
i had tried a few oranges before and wasn't too keen, so when the bloke in the shop asked me if i wanted to try an orange i was like not really..
but when i tried it i was blown away. such a beefy gain tone, sick clean tone too.

now i needa get me some pedals.
any recomendations for a sick overdrive deathy?
MMrs. Nesbet8 Jan 2010
Get a fuzz face. I got one, there gnarly.
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
with an amp like an Orange i'd learn to utilise its overdrive rather than achieve your overdrive with a pedal

though what i do with my JSX is run a tubescreamer into it while still on the lead channel. i've found that by having a slightly crunchy signal going into the amp, then overdriving it slightly again you can get a cleaner yet heavier overdriven tone.

tubescreamers... you can get the ibanez ones but i use a Maxon Ts808 which is a replica of the original ibanez pedals which maxon actually made for ibanez. great pedal. the tubescreamer doesn't have much tone control, just one knob, but the tubescreamer has the built in tone you want to hear. you buy it if you want that sound and nothing else

the MI Blue Boy is another good pedal, similar style but with more EQ options.

TThe Stuckey8 Jan 2010
cool man, thanks for the advice, ill go try out some tube screamers.
also, have you by any chance heard or played a dunlop crybaby from hell? its the dimebag signiture, ive heard its shithouse, do you have an opinion?
GGinger Beer8 Jan 2010
if you're gonna get a crybaby, get the original cry baby or the crybaby 535q i believe its called.
TThe Stuckey8 Jan 2010
yeah, i intend to get the origenal crybaby, but im interested to know whats out there
GGinger Beer8 Jan 2010
the vox wah is also pretty sweet except only problem is you lose alot of volume through the circuit. Another wicked one i tried at work was the ernie ball wah. Really sick.
TThe Stuckey8 Jan 2010
yeah?
ill check out the ernie ball.
cheers
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
yeh mate. as much as i loved Dime i thought pretty much all his signature gear was garbage.

i'd go the original or 535q. i haven't played one of those for ages, i dunno what the bypass is like, most likely not true bypass. best bet is to play one through your own amp and see how you like it
TThe Stuckey8 Jan 2010
yeah, i think its a bit suss when they continue making his signiture gear after he died. it's not like it can have his 'seal of approval' and whatnot.

what's your rig atm deathy?
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
2 rigs

gibson sg through my jsx half stack. got a seymour invader in the sg. i use an isp decimator for noise reduction with this one and usually the tube screamer for some pre gaining. usually just play metal with this rig but haven't played any metal since i got ......

52 reissue USA tele through a blues deluxe reissue. joe barden t-style pickups in that guitar. usually use my tubescreamer on that rig with a boss RE20 space echo for slapback and delay. mainly play blues and rockabilly with this rig

got some other gear like a boss eq, 1979 boss CE2 chorus, a piece of shit fender strat, a maton acoustic and my precious 1989 ibanez RG 750 which is broken down
TThe Stuckey8 Jan 2010
holy shit..
thats fucking nice
sg through jsx sounds insane

i considered putting seymours into my gibson, but im pretty happy with my pick ups atm.

what music are you mostly playing right now?
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
robben ford and brian setzer
DDisinteresTed8 Jan 2010
got a photo of the tele?

you're playing rockabilly? thought you played mostly metal varients
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
i can already play metal. getting pretty bored of it.

rockabilly is a totally new style to me and combines elements of blues, rock n roll, jazz, country, swing and bop etc. Setzer is an absolute motherfucker so pretty much just working his shit out. its a good challenge and impresses my woman a fair amount
DDeathMoth8 Jan 2010
before i put the bardens in it
