I love rockabilly guitar solos, I only have one stray cats album though. Early rock n roll is the best though.

Hey guys, im looking to buy a steel string acoustic and looking to spend about $500, any advice?
Also while im on it gotta get rid of my nylon acoustic, Yamaha c-40, cheap if anybody would want it.

Cheers if you can lend a hand.
DDeathMoth10 Jan 2010
i dunno much about acoustics but seeing as though you're already familiar with Yamaha i can tell you that they actually make pretty good quality guitars for the price
Ffatcatoncrack10 Jan 2010
Aight yeah i guess ill just head into billy hydes or something and have a looksiee, guess theyll have plenty of advice anyways, yamaha could be the go though.
DDeathMoth10 Jan 2010
yeh man unless you're after a metal axe or something yamaha's are always an option. people don't think they're cool or whatever, but i know a fair few guys who make a healthy living from playing music who swear by their guitars and basses
Ffatcatoncrack10 Jan 2010
hah ive already got my axes ;)
just need a nice clean acoustic sound to rest my ears every now and again.
and yeah not to worried about coolness of yamahas they seem pretty solid and acoustics arent really branded much anyways :)

with guitars in the price range you're looking, a lot of different brands come out of the same factory.
so in many cases you will pay an inflated price because of the label. if i were you, i'd just go and try out as many guitars as possible and pay no attention to price or brand.
Ffatcatoncrack10 Jan 2010
yeah thought there might not be much variation at this price, cheers.

just realised Stone Temple Pilots are back together and supposedly working on a new record for release this year.

i hope Scott Weiland can keep clean enough and out of prison for long enough to tour that bitch to australia
TThe Stuckey11 Jan 2010
yeah, im not keeping my hopes up deathy
DDeathMoth11 Jan 2010
his track record isn't too hot haha
but i did read on their website that they postponed their december/january tour not because he's in rehab but because they're finishing off the new album in time of US spring release... thats soon
GGinger Beer11 Jan 2010
hey fatcatoncrack, if you are looking for an awesome acoustic around $500, look at a brand called crafter. They make insanely nice acoustics for the price. And also, theres an australian brand called aria who make absolutely rubbish electrics, but there top of the line acoustic which is around $500 is soo nice. If i could go back and buy another acoustic, itd be that one.
DDeathMoth11 Jan 2010
aria actually used to make some pretty hot electrics
GGinger Beer11 Jan 2010
Maybe we both played different aria electrics? Cant say ive really explored there electrics though but ill take your word for it.
