Different grades of wood (but one that looks like a lower grade may indeed sound better)
Lower grade electrics in the Squiers (easy swap)
Lower grade hardware in the Squiers
Less attention to detail with the fit and finish.

All that aside, I bought a Squier Bullet strat, just because I wanted another dirt cheap guitar and I got it for 160 bucks.

Plays great, sounds.....umm....unique! But not neccesarily in a bad way.

For the 400 bone pricerange though, Yamaha pacificas are damn near impossible to beat. They play great.

Hey shutdown, If your buying a strat copy, it would be worth your while to try and hunt down a fernandez strat. I have one and its the nicest guitar, real smooth, small neck, perfect action. Very comfortable to play, and sounds rad. Yeah, thats my 2c. Hunt one down. Not sure how much they cost though. My dad originally bought it second hand for $600 but then i got it for free, think its a 70's strat. Well worth looking into anyway.

Hey shutdown!

seriously, get a squier classic vibe strat. They are one of the nicest strats i have ever played. I'd pick one any day over a mexican fender

sorry everyone but metal sucks.

shutdown some of the squiers aren't too bad, i think the quality control is pretty random. they all feel really different. you can get luck and find one with a nice neck, hot rod the cunt, and you'll be laughing... but still you won't find one as bad ass my usa tele

ok so ever since i started to play guitar i have always had guitars with floyd roses.

now that i have just recently bought a solid bridge guitar ive been experimenting with lower/dropped tunings (drop c & b etc.)

the problem is that it goes out of tune fairly quick. ive read up on the internetz and keep getting pointed towards using heavier guage strings, so that it keeps the tension.

what are some of your guys views/experiences? is it worth using thicker strings? does it help lots or just a little etc.
DDeathMoth12 Apr 2010
if you're leaving your guitar in low tunings put heavier strings on.

fuck even in standard tuning i have a 11's on my SG just because heavier strings have more body to the sound and it gives you something decent to rip in to. nothing worse than gay little strings

Gay little strings cut my fingers when i play barre chords sometimes.

11's on a 24.75 scale length though are a different story to 11's on a 25.5 scale length.

Tuning stability won't necessarily be fixed by putting thicker string on.

If its do do with your machine heads or your re-stringing technique, this could actually make the problem worse!

DO you do alot of bending? Perhaps mild string bind could be the cause. There's a product called Big Bends Nut Sauce. Dab a TINY amount of it on your bridge saddles and nut and that should help.

As simple as it sounds, you should also go on youtube and watch video's on how to PROPERLY string your guitars.

Trust me this makes a MASSIVE different.

Hope that helps.

On my guitars I play :

Jackson RR3 Rhoads - 10-46's (standard tuning)

Epiphone Les Paul Custom - 12-56's (D standard tuning)

Ibanez AF85 Archtop - 12-56's (standard tuning)

Ibanez Blazer - 10 - 46 (Eb standard tuning)

I truly can't justify going any thicker strings on the blazer of the rhoads due to their scale length. Bends are tougher and I find them just generally less friendly to play.

10-46's do the trick just fine.

That being said, the 12-56's on my archtop sound amazing.

PPIG..21 Apr 2010
Nice one!

I've been considering getting the Epiphone Blues Custom 30.

That or a Vox AC 30.

But the Peavey Vyper tube amp and the Line 6 tube series are also enticing.

As is the new Orange Amps computer with an Amp built in....or is it an Amp with a computer built in.

Either way, its awesome.
Iinvisi21 Apr 2010
Mr meatpie nice pickup that's my main amp haha. I sort of dig it. Would rather a tube amp
NNenaeststas21 Apr 2010
Yeah I was originally going to get a tube amp, but i seen this and thought fuck it.

I'm also mad curious, if you got yours new how much did you pay?
Iinvisi21 Apr 2010
