Unfortunately the music shop where I am has about 5 guitars in store at the moment and I can't travel to look around as I have no liscence at the moment. I did get to play a few matons though and they felt sounded nice to me. However I haven't picked up a guitar for 5 years at least prob more after my teacher as a kid was arrested for child porn and was actually a hard out pedo... Turned me off playing for a wile now I'm just teaching myself via da youtubezz.

i like guild acoustic guitars, though i think their price range is little higher than a 1000 if you want to get a really good one. I bought a washburn augusta for a 1000 bucks and it sounds pretty fucken good. cole clark would be your best bet i'd say, mate has one and fucken plays really well. It's a guitar that seems to fit into any genre.
If you've had a break for 5 years i'd say get some light gauge strings as your hands will cop it. Also for 1000 bucks the wood on any guitar will be a solid, so the sound of the guitar will only get better with time.

I'm normally a bass player but i like to play guitar every now and again, mostly just playing simple punk stuff. i'm pretty keen to get a decent guitar, even if it is just to muck around on occassionally.
my question is, what is the difference between gibson SGs and epiphone SGs apart from the price? would an epiphone SG be a good choice for a simple guitarist who just wants to play punk stuff with a decent guitar?
i'm looking at getting this guitar http://www.haworthguitars.com.au/shop.products.detail/g-400-model-gtr-h-h-ebony-rwd-fb-chr-h-w
cheers

Anyone know what these are like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Orange-CR35LDX-Orange-Crush-Amp-CR-35-/170778368143?pt=AU_Amplifiers&hash=item27c32f188f $300 posted seems pretty legit for what it is. Or should I just save some more $ and get something like a fender blues jnr? Its just for my bedroom.
hell yeh that was sick potii... Ive just been messing around on that e blues position all week. Its amazing how many licks you can play in just one scale. Ive been playing the roadhouse blues intro bit and then just making up little bits down the scale... prob sound like a n00b right now ha.
hahaha na i guess you start off somewhere. Yeah starting out in E is a pretty good way to learn, i like playing in it. An easy way to solo over a 12 bar blues i learnt was to play a major pentatonic scale on the 1st and then play a minor pentatonic on the 4th and 5th. So for stuff in E (just incase you have no clue what i said or anyone else) on the E chord play E major pentatonic scale, then on A and B play a minor pentatonic scale.
If you have a good grasp of music, a good way to learn blues is to listen to guys like this and pick up on things they do. Whether it be licks, the way they syncopate or finger picking style. Probably could apply to all genres of music

Yeah i see what you mean. Im prob not at that stage yet but il keep it in mind. I can sit there and improv in one position no worries but havent really started linking them up yet.
hey guys i'm looking to get a cheap mic for recording lyrics/guitar anyone know any all round decent yet cheap mics to help get me started???
while mics are on topic, i need to get a mic + mic amp for gigs, any recommendations?
urrr mic and mic amp? like, for an acoustic guitar? what you talkin about fool?
Now is it just me or do you other guitarist hate it when people refer the tremelo to a "whammy bar" it just pisses me off to no end!
Any opinions on the Gretsch G5120 ?
nah its just you, how could you do shredding solos with out a whammy bar?
yeah man your tremelo is useless without using the whammy bar. Well not really
