at least the third trick then, as already said bryce golder had a feeble on it in the last journal RVCA article
New slam
Slam has a lot of pages dedicated to young aussie dudes eg. new gen, focus, exposure photo thing. Not to mention all the stuff they put up on the website.
Dennis Durrant nearly back smithed it, perfect cover, DNL and a black box dude. why not run that
alot of tricks have gone down on it. let me get my skate nerd cap on.
bryce golder - feeble and i think corey duffel did it too??
dennis durrant - bs 5050
dane burman - k grind
leo romero - fs smith
hiroyuki matsuo - fs 5050
JUSTIN BROCK - FS NOSE GRIND
more will go down. its a mans spot, you gotta run to it unless you put wood down, it's rough as guts, and the landing is rough bitamen. atleast the convience store is at the spot and they got mad snacks.

I’m just gonna open with this, I’m sure the majority of people in this thread (and skateboarding) are not well off financially enough to know they can enjoy skateboarding for the rest of there lives without having to earn money and worry about how to stay above water in real life.
I agree with most of the points that have been brought up but your all acting like it’s a well off magazine run by a money hungry fat cat.
Everyone at Slam are like us, real skateboarders. Now, if you’re a skateboarder you got two options to be able to keep yourself skating.
You can either accept that you gotta find a flexible job or a way to get you money so you can get by in life while having time to skate. OR you can TRY and make it in skateboarding, and unless you got a talent like nugget and can rape cash from all the corporate giants that are throwing down, that’s a real hard thing to do.
If you don’t pick one them, and you become a 9-5 business slave, that’s game over.
I agree that Slam should run more Australian born covers, but they gotta do what they gotta do to produce a magazine for us and so they can keep doing what they love. Skateboarding would be at a serious loss without it.
Slam does care and listen to what there readers and Australian skateboarders think about there magazine and how to improve it, so instead of rubbing it in the dirt just send them a polite email about what you would like to see different in the future.
LESS HATE AIGHT?

I wasn’t going to post but I might as well.
I have known Trent and Jake personally for many years and more recently the young rouge eye (Steve Rodgie) who has also become one of my closet homies! I owe pretty much everything to Trent and Jake! Those guys have helped me out so much over the years its almost laughable! I know for a fact many others can say the same…… those guys have helped countless Australians get where they are today weather its purely within the ranks of skateboarding or even photography, video and even industry stuff, those guys have been the catalyst for many people’s successes. All of those guys are some of the best people you could ever meet! And they work harder on that magazine than most people do in a lifetime. It takes a lot of work and effort to produce a monthly magazine of that size especially in a place like Australia. I will agree I would love to see less American covers and this is something I have taken up with these guys before so im sure it will be no surprise when they read this. To be honest, there are a shit load of amazing skateboarders in Australia who talents sometimes slip under the radar but fuck its not SLAM’s fault! There are so many contributing factors I wont list because ill be here all night. I know my opinion may seem bias as I have worked for SLAM for many years but to be honest those guys do a fantastic job and have done for a long time. And all that black box talk is an absolute load of bullshit! “3 covers year” or whatever….. I guess we can add that to the ever growing lame ass list of Australian skateboarding “Conspiracy theory’s”. Lips off the bong boys if your getting that deep.
Sorry for the rant. Love sparkes

everybody be loving sparx, best thing in the magazine is reading sparx's stuff
just got the issue today, that blake harris bs 5050 on that rail Mccrank front 50ed was just chucked in the overflow part, i thought that was a bit of a waste, could of gone somewhere else, thats too to gnar to be put in an overflow.

haha damn choi!
shows how much i don't know.
My point was and still is, it's a gnarly spot and any trick on that rail is incredible.
Seppo or not it definitely warrants a cover shot

i dont think people are meaning the cover of leo isnt worthy, it is, there just annoyed that slam put out 2 American pros in a row and theres dudes that put in the work here in Oz that dont even get one.
I know Trent and the Slam dudes lurk around here, be nice if they could tell us there opinion. Slam do alot for people, the whole website does alot of good promoting peoples stuff.
But theres nothing more rewarding for an Aussie then getting there first cover.

blake harris back 5050 is dope!
regarding American pros on the cover, my main point was i feel that last months jamie thomas cover was a little of a let down. I know the mag gives a lot of people an opportunity to show their talents, and from a WA perspective it is good to see aiden white getting some photos in after thomson seems to have slowed down on shooting. regardless of the cover i will still buy it each month as i have for years, due to it being the only monthly mag, and worthy of supporting /rant.
Agreed sparx Steve is an absolute bestman!
He's helped me out a couple of times, Trent also when I had things going on with 'image'
As for the hate, I think you should overlook the cover and realize how much time & effort slam put into making skateboarding more possible in Australia...

If anyone could possibly be having a go at anyone working for slam, then you're off your head...they're some of the nicest blokes ever and what they do is amazing.
Also on the subject of Aiden White, that guy is killing it in Luke's absence...but what happened to Luke?

Apparently word is thompson has his own studio, and is trying to concentrate on fashion and other areas of photography. i dont think he has been shooting predominantly skate photos for a while, as slam trips to WA now have a photographer sent with them instead of using him. Thinks he still shoots skate sometimes though, he had the barry mansfield shot in slam last mont i think
Josh Backman new gen is the best part of the Issue.
DC in WA has some dam nice photos in it.
Props to Blake on the BS 50-50

no hate, but it's pretty obvious that aussie skateboarding is still peaking, and having more than one or two seppo covers a year is pretty dawgin'.
i guess it all comes down to cream get the money dollah dollah bill, and things change and become the norm, but there is clearly a problem here and i think it should be resolved.
I'm pretty sure when i was a kid circa 2002, it was more aussies and the odd seppo tour shots, which were pretty basic cuz the tour guys usually had there own guys coving them for the seppo mags.
it was all about the durrant wall posters.

i get way more stoked when i see Aussies on the cover....
just my opinion......
just my opinion......
aussies all day, yanks get their fair share.
you guys are forgetting the point. its not personal at all, no one is attacking jake and trent personally. they work for slam. slam is owned by a publishing house that requires certain things for them to keep there job and the magazine going. they do a great job of producing a magazine every month it's alot of hard work thats for damn sure. but constructive criticism is what they value and whether your a industry big wig or a 12 year old kid all the opinions count. thats what the forums are for right?
we definately have to be grateful that we have a magazine that comes out every month or what would we look at? i miss fuknoath like it was an ex girlfriend that shit was so funny all the time.
mike get back shredding bro then u wont miss out on all the skate goss haha.
