This guy abused and yelled at my mate at the shopping center stall for something he 'apparently wrote' online somewhere.
RE: Seek Skate Co
Why haven't you guys of this particular forum given this brand the same curtesy of growth as you have 50/50 or Newy Skate?
They started the same way, a small company starting something that takes a lot of work and probably had products half the quality that Seek Skate Co have due to the times they started there business.
As the comment made on the 3rd of August, Seek Skate Co have admitted they have things to work out just as 50/50 and Newy Skate had to.
Also mentioned is that Seek Skate Co is a father and son team. The son is the skater and creativity side and the father is the business side.
Who are you to bag out a fellow skater trying to break into the market? When did skating allow us to criticise each other like it is happening here?
Also you think Seek Skate Co is the worst thing to happen you need to look at what Billabong has done to brands such as Sector 9 and the other brands it has bought and taking down with them.
Competition is healthy is business and necessary for products to evolve and brands to get better. After all most brands not all are coming from china, taiwan and overseas so Seek is one company that admits it to there consumers.
And i am from newy and have been here all my life and i know kids young and older who have there boards and love them.

no one gives a shit about billabong or sector 9.
also, not even half the companies make their boards in china, most are mexican and there's still plenty of boards being made in the usa.

I am also from Newcastle and i assure you that everybody who is older and has any idea about skateboarding do not love Seek boards. The company is undercutting Newcastle Skate and 50-50 Skate shop.
These are shops that have skateboarders working there, support skateboarding the right way, don't have a get rich quick scheme to capitalise on the new skatepark built at Bar beach and have done everything the right way.
Seek is a disgrace to Newcastle skateboarding.

Seekskateco has always been prepared to work with retailers but if they are not prepared to do so then we have no alternative but to increase our market share. Likewise we will endeavour to work with the industry through a number of areas and take their feedback on board but once again if they wish to hold us back then Good Luck. Your criticisms are what makes us grow stronger and strive to achieve higher standards. This will not happen over night and we have a long road ahead of us. Look around the corner guys their is more of this coming it is happening in every industry. The middleman is a thing of the past and the only way to compete is buying direct from the factories. We have done our homework and studying even harder to stay ahead of the game. Competition is coming and we are prepared. Any of you need help with your models do not hesitate to contact us.

"We will sponsor team riders who have what it takes to be part of our brand. There will be 3 levels of sponsorship."
this 100% reeks of the kind of shit someone's dad would come up with

Seekskateco now employs skateboarders in our promotional outlets. We also now have local graphic artists doing a complete new range of graphics for our decks, trucks and wheels. 50-50 and Newcastle Skate have had the opportunity to stock our products but have no wish to do so and that is their perogative. As we have mentioned on a number of occassions we would rather work together rather than against retailers but if they do not wish to do so then they will lose market share.

"These decks are designed to have very good pop and they also have a great unique shape which was specifically chosen by skaters, for skaters. All decks come with SEEKSKATECO grip tape already applied with 'SEEK' cut out.
These decks are made using the latest cold press technology that gives your deck more durability and strength meaning our decks do not chip and splinter easily. We use 7 ply 100 % Canadian Maple which is imported from one of the most durable wood suppliers in Canada."
couple of questions Dad.
- unique shape? wtf is that?
- by skaters, for skaters? kooked it
- "one of the most durable wood suppliers"? so does this mean the supplier supplies durable wood or the supplier itself is durable?

Curious to know how anyone is supposed to be apart of the market share when your selling boards online for $40?
Also dont believe all the shit your chinese manufactors are telling you, especially when they say they do work for a lot of famous US brands, because a lot of them just use that as their market pitch to get suckers like you to buy their cheap shit.

Fuck off kook.

I think it's more a case of skateboarders in general being really good at spotting non legit brands trying force their way into the market.
It's pretty simple, if you are a new brand and go about things the right way, then skaters will give you a chance, but if they feel you are not doing things the right way, then well.....see above reactions ^

Look here businessman Dad. Don't go around crying because people think you suck. Business 101 would tell you to do your market research. You obviously don't understand your market or your competition. Go back to business tafe businessman dad.
All you are going to do it lose a bunch of money and alienate your son from that local skateboarding community. Bad dad, bad dad.

"Bad dad, bad dad."
if no retailers want to work with you, you really have to think about what your doing...
Unless you just want to undercut local shops in the newcastle area and ruin its skate scene...
while making a quick tiny buck...
It seems like that is the business plan since you dont want to work with retailers and with out retailers there is no skate scene.
Good local shops create hype with in the skate scene, newy skates been doing it since 1995? while serving a whole range of products from legitimate brands that a well known for quality products. So dont go talking shit on shops that support skateboarding.
One thing that doesnt create hype is a random dude that pops up with a 'skate brand' and straight away announces he is the best and that his aim is to take over skateboarding as he is way better then everything that has ever existed. Also a brand needs to be original and know its audience, which would mean that you would know there used to be a big brand called seek which supported a bunch of legendary riders which to this day are still big players in the skateworld.
p.s please go watch 'the castle' and realise not everything is about money.
and also its a great movie and such so you might enjoy yourself whilst reconsidering this whole 'take over the skate industry idea' that you have going on.
p.p.s. everyone is entitled to stand up for what they believe in, and in this case try protect a local skate scene. A business approach to this would be to cop it on the chin and re think your approach and start again or quit it. cause it wont last long.
Skaters run skating and always will!

the ignorance of this business is quite obvious.
1) a kid, what, 15 years old? less?? a kid is bummed because QUALITY boards are kind of expensive. every kid has always been bummed about this. kid says to dad "let's find a way to get cheap skateboards and sell them. all the KIDS will want them because they can't afford to keep getting rad ones"
error one: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. cheap car, piece of shit. cheap house, piece of shit. cheap air conditioner, you guessed, piece of shit. cheap boards...pieces of shit.
2) Dad says "ok, we can work with something here. let me do zero research on the skateboarding industry and come up with something incredibly lame. then we'll make a website that reads like your dad wrote it, oh wait he did, then we'll unknowingly name our brand Seek just like that classic 90's label." ... going well so far.
3) next Dad says "ok, let us find the cheapest boards known to man (because cheap means good right?). everyone knows where to go for these...china. i don't skate so i'll just assume that because they're made of 100% canadian maple that they are exactly the same quality as the big labels...in fact, no, let's tell everyone that they're BETTER than the big brands because they have a "unique" design." .... still kooking it.
4) "let's just approach the local stores with our kook boards and see if they're keen. what do we know...they're not keen. hmm must be because i'm a massive kook with no interest in skateboarding. what are these guys? skateboarding mafia?" ... yeh cunt, we pretty much are.
5) "well, since these guys don't want to throw us a bone, we're going to set up a stall in the local shopping center to try to lure people away from the true stores to buy our cheap, rubbish, chinese goods" ... yeh cunt, you're sounding like Wing Dong Wang down at Paddy's Markets floggin off "Chuck Taylors" for $10
6) "next son, we'll continue to inflame the situation by making such remarks as 'if they don't want to play ball, then fuck them, we will take over the whole scene'" ... yeh, good luck with that.
7) "next, let's try to run a skate festival in Newy. sounds like a great way to advertise our new shitty boards while making people believe that we give a shit about the scene" ... you mean like those comps and demos that Newy Skate has been putting on since the 90's? righto bro.
8) "then, oh shit, clouds!! let's call off the event a few times before eventually running it and in the process vilifying and abusing one of the VOLUNTEERS that helped make the whole thing possible" ... fuck mate, you sound like an alright bloke! mind if i apply for Platinum Sponsorship??
eat a bag of dicks.
