Nope, it's 1/2 way out to Kurnell, a few hundred metres past the entrance to the tip that's still operating.
The council voted unanimously to have it out there coz;
Breens and Australand will pay for the park.
We'll stop hassling them to put it at Wanda.
The precinct committee will stop bitching about not wanting it at Wanda.
The council doesn't have to pay for it.

The council has called the first consultation meeting for designing the park. Council people will be there to oversee it but Convic will be running it.

"The meeting will be on Tuesday 20 July in a meeting room at Cronulla Central.

I have tentatively booked the room from 5pm to 7.30pm but I would assume that most people won't be able to get there until 6pm (after standard work hours).

So the official meeting time will be 6pm to 7.30pm."

When I get more details I'll post em.

So lame, pretty much the whole point of a cronulla park was so it was right on the beach at wanda where the god damn beach and people are, not in the middle of fucking nowhere

At least don't make it a god damn Bowl! We NEED plaza street styles

Sorry I can't be arse reading back through this thread.

What is the current budget for the park?

I know that most people these days always want a plaza, which to me is fine if the budget is only enough to accomodate that. I do think that if a budget is anywhere from $400,000 and up, it is more than possible to build a plaza and a mini bowl, or larger.

The one problem I see with most Australian parks in this era is the lack of diversity. We had the same problem in the 80's with a lot of vert ramps, but no street or bowl areas included in the one facility.

It would be great if The Nulla had a park that could cater for more than just one style of skating, as I'm sure that not everyone is a street skater, or a bowl or vert skater.

There have been many amazing skaters come out of Cronulla over the decades. There were at least 10 amazing vert skaters from there in the 80's and 90's. Quite a few great pro street skaters, and as we all know, one vert skater who is world renowned.

I know it's hard not to be selfish about what you want at your local skatepark, but remember that not all locals want a bowl, or a plaza, or a mini, or a vert ramp.

Always remember that, if your local hasn't got everything you want to skate, travel.

^^

Very true i agree shouldn't just be one style of skatepark, a plaza setup with a bit of bowl/tranny or mini would be aweome! for everyone.

As for the travel that's what shire skateboarders have always done due to shit parks in the area so I think it's about time we didn't have to travel.
If bowl skaters want bowl bowl bowl and more bowl go to Menai and Sutherland, its time for a street setup in the shire and let's not even mention that sad excuse for anything at Engadine

I know what you mean mate. In the early 80's all the Nulla lads used to come to Five Dock and skate until 2am. So many rad sessions back then. I hope you guys get what you really want.

Got in touch with the council again. Nothing much happening beyond some basic drawings by Convic due to they can't get details from the land owners so they progress their designs. Probs another meeting end of October.
Michael, money-wise, they're talking WELL over 400k. Closer to 1 mil.

Plans are done but have not been released yet. They'll be released this coming week and are subject to some heavy changes as the design seems a bit poor. Decent size park though, psyched!
