that looks really good, pretty much the perfect tranny:street ratio. something for everyone, i would love to have that as my local.

The main issue is going to be the empty space they left when the pulled out the snake run out of the plans.
This will be left as grass/dirt at the entrance of the park, so dirt and mud will be walked in and get all over the place.
(We can't have dirty griptape or crap getting in our fresh swiss bearings!)

I know this whole project has been constrained to a budget, but rather than scoping for a "later upgrade" that will never happen they would be best using this empty space for a big slab of concrete.
It would be a good place to play s.k.a.t.e. that doesn't obstruct the rest of the lines at the park (i.e. waterloo).

Pushing the costs one step further, maybe a small flat ledge would also be a popular items which would be best to keep off to the side as they get plenty of use at the one time.

Options for a chair or two near the entrance will keep parents from sitting on the ramps (i.e. sitting on the hubba at rockdale). Although you will never stop them all, it's worth giving them an option.

Otherwise, this is pretty much the best thing I've ever seen since Macquarie Fields! Good job convic!

Spoke to the council and the DA will go in in a fortnight, so mid November. They're currently looking at the surrounding landscaping. Not out of our parks budget
Construction still planned to start in May 2013.
Once DA is in it will up for public comment but no objections are expected.

completely agree with you aaronmatheson, would be awesome if we could have a nice flat area with a ledge or two additional to the existing plan!

And that is rad news that construction is still expected in May with no expected objections, hopefully all goes good and stays to plan - thanks for that update cobast!

bank to ledge looks really mellow and good for learning.

jersey barrier has good angles, further detailing looks like they changed the final design to sloped sides instead of just flat vertical.

don't know what to say about the pole jam, never come across one of these before so no idea how they even work. very exciting but i can imagine it's gonna be tricky to learn on with that bank before it.

the rainbow ledge and that "step in steep bank" look so fun..

the DA went through OK last week so construction is still set to begin in May. No actual date set as yet

the bank will give you the momentum to fly out of the pole jam, looks like a good design to me.

CRONULLA SKATE PARK APPROVED Nice touch on the sharkies colour scheme, although i'm sure skaters will give NRL players a run for their money when it comes to drugs in sport.

Naming the site after a poltician is pretty lame when there are so many other things relevant to the area; monumental aboriginal landmarks, captain cook's landing site, even the bloody sewage treatment plant has more significance that this Don Dobie character.

A $5M project to make Australian poo drinkable sounds more interesting than some Scottish dude who sat on a seat in the 70's but wasn't in ACDC.

Colour scheme was pulled out of someones arse without consultation. They were told no way as soon as it was seen.
The Leader article was badly written. They meant the overall park area could be named after Dobie, not the skate park. There's a push to name it after Jake Brown.
Construction still scheduled for May, THIS YEAR!

Just saw a post on the Facebook page:

"IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE DEVELOPERS:
Council has been informed by the developer that construction of the Greenhills Skate Park has been delayed due to the resolution of constructing the facility around critical sewer infrastructure.

The developer is liaising closely with Sydney Water in respect to its requirements for the proposed works around the sewer infrastructure.

In respect to the skate park and associated playing fields and car parking areas, these works are not expected to be completed until June 2014.

Upon completion of the facilities by the developer, a formal handover of the facilities will occur from the developer to the council with a decision by council to be made as to when people can use the facilities."

Not good news, but it's worth knowing that we won't be able to skate this thing in summer.

Yeah there's a major water line running through the area that Sydney water hasn't maintained so the pipe's exposed and is right where all the heavy equipment run. Australand say they've had engineers in and working out how they can protect the pipe so they can carry on. At the moment the skate park site is covered with the dirt for the hockey field but it can't be moved till the pipe is sorted out. No one knows why the dirt was put there in the first place

Recent Post on the Green Hills Skatepark Facebook page (April 16):

Great news! Council has heard from the developers that they are close to resolving the sewer infrastructure issues with Sydney Water. The developers anticipate the construction of the skatepark at Green Hills will recommence in July 2014.
