I love the Olympics! I watch the piss out of it every four years. But I think skateboarding would be out of place if they introduced it. I don't understand what 'discipline' they would do? Vert? street?..... slalom? (*I just got a shiver down my spine typing that) what ever it was it would just look wrong and cringe worthy.

I get that people like Bob Burnquist want to be Olympians but look at the bigger picture. It's shouldn't be about the 30 something vert dudes that want to be Olympians.... (No offence to all the 30 something vert dudes) Although seeing Jnr. represent NZ in the 90+kg vert discipline would be awesome!

I dont think skateboarding belongs in the olympics but if they want to have any credit at all it will have to be way cooler than street league.

Im thinkng they need a really ghetto danger dave street course, dodgy ground, floppy soggy rails off big drops, bits of the course crumbling to pieces, skateboard comps need to be more critical as in someone might get hurt.

I just had a mental image of a panel of judges giving point based scoring.. it just doesn't work imo.

skateboarding in the olympics would be great. , when they cut from the ladies gymnastics to jake duncombe skating some odd street course while wearing green and gold lycra one piece suit would be pretty hilarious

and finally nsw might get a new skatepark . if it were to become a olympic sport the government would recognize australias chance to medal and throw some serious cash into skateboarding which would be cool

I was having a discussion about this the other night. Personally, it just doesn't sit right. For reasons I can't articulate without sounding like a wanker I don't even like skateboarding being referred to as a sport.

X games started out kinda wack, but the current bowl comps they have been holding are fucking incredible and the street league stuff would be hard to beat for courses and a really innovative scoring system. X games also have the mega ramp, vert and racing side of skateboarding catered to. I don't see how the olympics could do better than that?

In a way it is bigger than the olympics would divert attention or resources to. I don't see the point and don't see the benefit. The only positive I could see would be Roy and HG doing commentary

I mean, can you see the olympics diverting this much dosh to skate? Regardless of their kooky beginnings, they have the design of the terrain down. If you want to see "elite" skaters this is pretty hard to beat
