Shredded japan recently, Mount Naeba. 2 days after we got there the massive earthquake and tsunami happened, it was pretty nuts, whole mountain shook, such a strange sensation. This is the video we did

hit up my first snowboarding run a couple of months ago in Chamonix, France. Was end of season but still had some slopes open. Spent first day getting lessons and found it pretty easy compared to how hard I had imagined it to be. By end of day 1 I was carving back and forth on blue / green slopes and was landing like 180 ollies on flat. Even did a little front boardy on a snow ledge when I found myself going too fast down an icy access road and decided to hit up the snowy ledge the on the side of the road.. The board slid surprisingly similarly to a skateboard if not a little easier cos it was less whip-out..

But yeh, all good things must come to an end, on day 2 I decided to head up to a more heavy duty slope, waited in line for over an hour to get up the lift, ate total shit on this mega slope that was heaps icy, I dug the front rail at speed and ate dickcheese face first down slope twisting my leg and pretty much knocking the living shit outta me.. Knee was fuuuuuked, managed to strap it and just dick around on the basic slopes for the last day afterwards but it still canes a few months later. Got MRI results back expecting to hear that I had torn some kind of ligament but turns out I have a fracture in the tip of the tibia / leg bone..

20+ years skateboarding, never hurt a knee before.. 2 days snowboarding and boom...

Anyone done one of those overseas working holidays in the snow, with CCUSA or IEP? I'm pretty keen to do something like that at the end of the year.

Has anyone ever camped in Jindabyne? I'm thinking of taking the ute with a matress in the back just for one night instead of forking out for accomodation.

get a powered campsite at Jindy caravan park for next to nothing and just run a electric heater in your tent. I did it last year in my van and it worked pretty well. Also they have got fucking boss showers.

Stayed at Snowlines caravan park in jindabyne for 2 nights back in 96. We had an on-site van, not a tent. Was possibly the coldest two nights I had experienced up until that point.

As the skier said, get a good sleeping bag.

^^ just because he took some pictures of some skiers one time doesn't mean he's a skier ya gronk!

just got back from 3 days at Perisher just before. Decent weekend even though only the V8 and quad chair to mid-station were open. fun was to be had charging a straight line back down the quad or cutting back down the cat-track to the park at the top of V8.
went from just being able to 5050 the boxes to hitting up back boardies/to fakie and some sketchy nose presses. ate shit onto my knee trying to suss front boards on the 9m box but managed to 5050 the 3m across, 9m down combo box first go (even though it scared the shit out of me haha) so i'm pretty stoked on that... pretty keen to hit the features up and get better at em over this season.

Can someone let me know a couple of the best Australian-online-snow-shops?

Looking to purchase a new board, been sussing the american online stores, but they all either don't ship here, or charge heaps to do so.

Help appreciated

I was flying out to NZ for the next three weeks on Friday but the ash cloud fucked me. So I just decided im going to cancel that trip and head to perisher for a while instead, then maybe back to nz when the snow is better later in the season.

Anyone going to be up at Perisher or Thredbo over the next week or so?

I'm up at perisher at the moment. It's pretty good though some of the runs they've rushed to open have pretty shut cover and groomed tracks in the middle that have quickly got tracked out by cunts edging the hell out of it. There is some deep but heavy powder to be had if you swing out past the two chairs that are going on mount p at the mo. Hopefully we get another decent dump soonish and then it will be ripping. Front valley park has heaps of good features already but most are a bit beyond me at this stage.

Youcunt, I'll be up at perisher fairly reg (might do a day next weekend) so gee it up in this thread if you wanna hook up for a run or two.

haha thanks nate dawg

once you get front boards, most of everything else comes pretty easy.. jibbing fucks up so many peoples knees... i've cut my forhead open once just on a box in threbo :/ (see profile for blood picture) so i've cut down

i'll be in perisher from july 17-23 if anyones going to be there at that time?

daniel9t9, what i've been doing is setting up a mail forwarding account with a US company, and then just order a bunch of ski shit, and send it to the mail forwarding place. It's a bit annoying, but its sweet once you set it up
hope that helps
